Hi everyone! I'm back again with another watercolor portrait. I decided to stick with the Game of Thrones theme and try Jon Snow, mostly because all of the ladies I know were begging me too. haha!
Here is a close-up of my finished portrait...
This is the whole painting. I don't think it's my best but I still kind of like it. I don't paint too many men so that's always a challenge for me, and I'm still learning watercolors so it's not too bad. I have a hard time getting the shadows as dark as I would like them to be. Something is also a little off on the face but since I have been staring at it for a couple hours I can't figure out what it is. Maybe the eyes??
Here are a couple progress shots
Here is a reference photo for the people who may not watch Game of Thrones:
Looks FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!!
DeleteI am such a huuuuge fan of Game of Thrones!!! The portrait looks great! I love how you chose monochrome colors :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!! Game of Thrones is one of those shows that I have a love/hate relationship with...haha! My husband has read all of the books and loves it
DeleteVery good eye shadowing. Will check to see if you have pen and ink portraits on your blog; you have talent!
ReplyDeleteOh girl.
ReplyDeleteI love me some John Snow. Mhhmmmm.
hahaha!! All of my girl friends were begging me to try a portrait of him. He is definitely popular with the ladies. haha
DeleteWow this is so good.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is fantastic! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks Valerie!!
DeleteWhat a close depiction! Wow, you are so talented. This is great.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I thought that there were a couple little areas that I may have missed the mark a little but I'm so glad you think it looks like him.
DeleteThis is awesome! Beautiful the way you layered the details of hair and captured the expression!
ReplyDeleteThank you Abigail! I worked on the expression on his face for the longest time trying to get the look on his face right. This was a tough one!!
DeleteI haven't watched Game of Thrones because I have a very short attention span and was told the plot is quite complicated. But your portrait is absolutely terrific. I love it. Popping over from Creative Every Day!
ReplyDeleteThe plot is definitely complicated. lol! He has so many very different characters and it takes so long for them to all tie together....some of them still haven't yet. haha! But thank you sooo much! I really appreciate it!
DeleteWow! your painting looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF
Thanks Ariel! =)

ReplyDeleteThank you! This was probably one of the most difficult ones I've tried so far. lol

ReplyDeleteNicole/Beadwright
Thank you Nicole! I love how complicated the characters are in this show.
DeleteWow you are prolific! I don't watch this show but wow you nailed it!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Great work again. Love how you did the shadows of his hair on his face. I think you may be right about the eyes. Maybe because one pupil is black and the other one has white around it ... ?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, I think the eyes are what is throwing me. I had a hard time keeping all the shadow on the one side of the face while adding the highlights on the other side and off of his eye. Definitely one of my more challenging ones.
DeleteWell done portrait wc ~ excellent ~ well captured ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol (A Creative Harbor)
Wow - you nailed it in this portrait - completely captured not only the features but the expression behind it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Getting his expression right was the hardest part. I had to keep going in and adding more layers. Definitely was the toughest one I've done so far!
DeleteFantastic work! Your portraits are amazing. :) So glad you could join us again. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Jon Snow is one of my favourites! :)
