Our 6 year anniversary

This may be a little confusing since I just did a post last month about our wedding anniversary, but my husband and I celebrate 2 anniversaries.  One when we got married, and the second is when we officially started dating as a couple.  We are super dorks like that.  I thought I would post a little collage of us year by year to celebrate...

And he's still my best friend in the whole world <3

Currently....

Currently I am....

Loving my husband for picking up special treats just for me when he went grocery shopping last night.

Reading nothing at the moment, but I would love some recommendations if you have any??

Feeling sick!  Stupid summer colds!  I thought we avoided it this year but no such luck.  The whole house has it.

Watching American Horror Story on Netflix!  Eeeek!  I'm such a sissy!  I'm going to have nightmares for weeks! haha

Writing another idea down for a blog post.  See, sometimes ADD comes in handy!

Listening to my daughter fight a nap....it's going to be a LONG day

Wanting to change up my hair a bit.  I'm thinking a new cute with highlight/lowlights.

Needing a real vacation without baby.  It would be nice to get away even for a night with just my hubby

Hoping that my father-in-law's test goes well today and that they all come back okay

Trying to find a fulltime job.  It's definitely time that I get back to work but I need fulltime so I can afford daycare

My favorite hair products

I am a pretty low maintenance girl, so it's not very often that I actually use a lot of product in my hair.  But when I do, I have a couple go-to's!

1.  Aussie Aussome volume - My hair is really thin, so if I'm planning on doing anything at all with it I have to use this.  It adds volume without leaving my hair too crunchy.

2.  It's a 10 miracle leave-in PLUS keratin - Let's be honest, I dye my hair A LOT!  This product really saved my hair after a really harsh dye left it dry and falling out.  Yeah, my hair was actually falling out.  So I tearfully went to a hair salon and she gave me this stuff.  Life saver!

3. FX Moroccan Moisture argan oil - I use this in my hair when I am going to straighten it.  It protects my hair from the heat and adds a really healthy shine.  Love it!!

4.  Aussie hair insurance - This is the only one that I use every single day.  It has a great smell and leaves my hair SUPER soft. Love love LOVE it!!

5.  Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine smoothing milk - This one is a life saver on rainy days.  My hair frizzes really bad and this is the only thing that calms it down.  I also use this one when I straighten my hair to protect against the heat.

What are some of your favorite products that you swear by?  Do you use anything every day on your hair?

Emmy awards fashion recap

I am happy to say that the fashion choices at the Emmy Awards on Monday night were MUCH better than Sunday's VMA's.  There were a lot more dresses that I liked rather than disliked.  I had a hard time coming up with a dislike list!

Unfortunately, I didn't even know half of the shows that were nominated.  I have yet to see any episodes of American Horror Story, Orange is the new black, Breaking Bad, Sherlock, or Fargo..... and apparently I am missing out!  Do any of you watch these shows??  What do you think?  What one should I start with?

Anyway, onto the fun stuff.  Red carpet Fashion!!  I absolutely LOVED these dresses.
from top left: Amy Poehler, Alexandra Daddario, Lucy Liu, Debra Messing
Bottom row: Hayden Panettiere, Halle Berry, Camilla Alves

These were the only dresses that made my worst dressed list.
Lena Dunham, Laura Prepton, Sarah Paulson

Lena Dunham's dress reminds me of cotton candy...but not in a good way.  I'm confused, is that top part of the dress or did she decide to pair that with the bottom.  Was this another one of her jokes??
Laura Prepton - It really isn't too bad until you look at that "collar"...flap? Whatever you want to call it.  It probably would have been a cute dress without that added "flair"
Sarah Paulson's dress looks like something you would have seen Beletrix LeStrange wearing in Harry Potter.  Or something straight from a Tim Burton movie... is it weird that part of me kind of likes it??

Who were your picks for best/worst dress??  Do you agree with my picks?

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Come on VMA's, I'm disappointed!

Does anyone even watch the VMA's anymore?  If I'm going to be honest, I didn't actually watch it either.  I just cheat and look at the winners the next day and check out the fashion from the red carpet.  I must be getting old because I only knew a little over half of the winners....that's just sad.  And the fashions at the VMA's....well, I'll let you decide for yourself...

My favorites from the night

And then there is the "why, just why??" category
 Starting from the top left:
Amber Rose- please put some clothes on
Solange- Are you sure that isn't your date's outfit??  It looks at least 8 sizes too big
Taylor Swift- Why? It's not as awful as the other ones but come on....just no!
Jeremy Scott- First off, he is one of the ones that I have no clue who he actually is... Secondly, you look like you are going to a 60s prom.  Stop it!
Bottom pics:
Common- It looks like you stole your top from the set of Star Trek.
Kardashian and Jenners- Just no...to all of it.  I'm pretty sure the one on the far right is wearing a satin bathrobe??

And then there were all of the lace dress catastrophes..
Rita Volk  |  Alexandra Shipp  |  Katie Stevens

Okay, this one is just a little funny.  Katy Perry was challenged by Britney Spears to do an impression...so she copied Britney's huge "fashion don't" when she showed up on the red carpet with Justin Timberlake in matching blue jean outfits....so that's a little funny.

What did you think of the VMA fashions??  Do you still watch the VMAs??

eShakti dress review

It seems like any time I find an amazing dress that I absolutely love it ends up being too short on me (I'm 5'8"  and 120lbs).  It can get REALLY frustrating.  That's why I was so excited when eShakti contacted me about reviewing one of their dresses.

All of their clothing is fully customizable! Yes, completely customizable!  You can change the length of the dress, add/remove sleeves, change the neckline, and you can input your exact measurements and they will fit the dress to your body.  You can also choose to have the pockets removed if you don't want them.

I chose their Keyhole front colorblock poplin dress in red and black.  They still have the same dress available, but only in eggplant/black and loden green/black.  I love fit-and-flare style dresses.  I think it has a classy look, but has an added edge with the exposed metal zipper and cut out.  The dress slips on over your head with a partial side zipper.  It has a great scoop neckline with a keyhole cutout.  I feel like the keyhole cutout may go a little too far down for my preferences but to each their own! The length is great for a work environment coming just below my knee.

My absolute favorite thing about this dress is that it has pockets! How awesome is that?!  I am a sucker for a dress with pockets!

The ONLY con that I can give for this dress is that because the fabric is cotton it wrinkles VERY easily, but that's it! It is already pre-shrunk and is machine washable.  So no need to get it dry cleaned! Seriously, this dress is great!

I cannot recommend eShakti enough! I’ve had a wonderful experience so far, and expect no less in the future. I hope you all get the chance to check them out! You can find eShakti on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.

Oh, and by the way, they are having a Buy One Get One Free sale going on right now!!! So if you are thinking about trying them out, now is definitely the time!  The sale ends on August 27th.

Disclosure: This review is my honest opinion and was in no way influenced by the free product given to me to review by Eshakti. I give my honest, personal opinion in this post.

Postpartum Depression and Anxiety – One Year Later from Happy Pretty Blog

MamaBirthday2
A year ago, I shared something very personal and not often talked about in the hopes that it would help another woman on her new journey into motherhood. It made me feel extremely vulnerable, yet empowered at the same time. Looking back and reading my post over again, I can see how far I’ve come and how much has changed since that day.

5 Reasons Why My Kids Aren't All Over Your Timeline from Mommie and Wee

social-media-pinterest

As a new mom in today’s generation, it is almost expected of me to constantly post photos, videos, and updates about my children. I’ve been asked countless times ‘Why don’t you ever post your kids on Facebook?’ and ‘Why are you trying to treat your kids like Blue Ivy? We want to see pictures!’ I mean, I love my children just as much as, if not more than the average mom. But, I draw the line at posting all about them on every social media account I own.

This weekend was a fabulous one as far as weather is concerned. It is the middle of August and it was finally starting to feel like summer in Mid-Michigan.... until yesterday. This weekend, it was easy to work up a sweat while doing anything outside. Lucy Lou, loves to be outside all.the.time. but when the sun is shining, her black fur is hot hot hot.
On a hot summer day as a kid, I loved eating popsicles (who didn't?), so being the cool dog mom that I am, I decided to make Lucy some popsicles of her own.

Wolverine watercolor painting

It's been a while since I created a new painting, so last night I sat down and forced myself to create something... and I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out.  It took me around 5 hours from start to finish.

I have always been a bit of a comic book dork.  Wolverine was always my favorite character, so I had to try him.

I think I may have goofed a little bit on his mouth but I like the way the eyes turned out!  What do you think?

I am going to try to get back into creating something artistic every week... I hope I can stand by that!  I always feel so much better and less stressed out after creating something new.

A couple progress shots

Do you like comic books or the comic book movies??  If so, who is your favorite character?

* You know what sounds kitty cats, dogs, owls, and cows makes.

* You give high fives like nobody's business and you just learned the "fist bump"

* Climb onto the couch

* You still love books

* Owls and kitty cats

* Climbing everything

You amaze me every day with the new things you learn.  Such a smart little girl already!  You make your mom and dad proud.
